The Caddis – Elk Hair (Hot Butt) is a proven variation of the classic Elk Hair Caddis pattern, designed with an added “hot butt” egg sac trigger for increased visibility and strike attraction. This subtle contrasting hotspot imitates egg-laying caddisflies and can be especially effective during active caddis hatches when fish key in on vulnerable adults returning to the water.
Built on the dependable Elk Hair Caddis profile, this fly offers excellent floatation, natural presentation, and durable construction that performs well across a wide range of rivers and trout water conditions.
Whether fished as an exact hatch match or as a searching dry fly, the Hot Butt Elk Hair Caddis remains a versatile and highly effective trout pattern.
A time-tested caddis variation designed to deliver visibility, floatation, and dependable trout-catching performance.
