Royal Coachman
One of the most iconic attractor fly patterns ever created, the Royal Coachman has been a favorite among trout anglers since the late 1800s. Originally developed from the classic Coachman pattern, the addition of the distinctive red floss center created a more durable and highly visible fly that quickly became legendary on trout waters everywhere.
This dry fly version rides high on the surface and is especially effective as a searching pattern in rivers, streams, and mountain lakes. A longtime favorite in the Rocky Mountains for Brook Trout, the Royal Coachman imitates a wide variety of insects including mayflies, ants, and other general attractor patterns.
Its bold profile, peacock herl body, and highly visible wing design make it an excellent choice for both fast water and calm surface feeding situations.
